School Anti-bullying Assembly by Michelle Szczepaniak and Kait Wilbur
On December 10, Midwest Central Middle School had a guest speaker about bullying, Bud Jefferies. Mr. Jefferies spoke to the school about how he is one of the strongest men in the world. He talked about bullying and how to be the best we can be, and he also performed a couple of his strength feats. His presentation was very interactive, including students and teachers in his amazing stunts. Seventh grade reading teacher Mrs. Harrison was lifted into the air single-handedly. Mr. Jefferies bent a five pound steel bar around his head and twisted it into the shape of a fish. Eighth grade science teacher, Mr. Brooks, attempted to bend a six inch spike but could not. Mr. Jefferies bent the spike with ease. During the assembly, Mr. Jefferies talked about all sorts of challenges he had to overcome during his life. He said all the students needed to focus on their subjects and that the strongest feat a person can accomplish is to be nice to everyone. Mr. Jefferies told the students that the strongest men in the world are very nice and not bullies. He talked about the different types of bullying and how some words we say may be just playing but can really hurt another person. The assembly seemed to be enjoyed by many of the students and teachers.
Mr. Jefferies lifted all of these students at one time.
Hunter Parks and Thomas Calloway tried to pull in either direction to break Mr. Jefferies grip; they couldn't!
